BAE Systems supports military at Run to Home Base United States

Founded in 2008, the program supports the career development of wounded veterans and gives them a chance to give back at events throughout the year. Shampoo, batteries, and Boston Red Sox-branded 3D stickers – these may seem like simple, everyday items to some, but to deployed soldiers these items, when packaged together, bring a sense of home. That’s why each year our company sponsors a Military Appreciation booth at the event where hundreds of volunteers stop by and put together care packages for soldiers around the globe to give them that slice of home. In the last nine years, over 500 of our volunteers have helped assemble 7,646 care packages for our troops during this annual event. Support of the Run to Home Base ensures that our world-class clinical care remains available at no cost to the participant or family. Thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of every dollar raised will go directly towards the life-saving care provided by Home Base.

Washington to the starts of the New York City Marathon, we have timed and scored thousands of races including road races, cross country meets, triathlons and biathlons, bicycle and canoe/kayak events. For the 9th straight year, Daymark employees, their families and clients supported“Run to Home Base”an annual event committed to helping veterans suffering from mental trauma and brain injuries. At this year’s event we were able to offer our clients the unique opportunity to join “Team Daymark” thanks to our partnership with Cisco. In addition to volunteers throughout the event, we had more than 70 employees participate in the 9K/5K races. Following the event, we sponsored the Vietnam Veteran’s Tribute, in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, at the Red Sox vs. Yankees game.

As a community, we are all strengthened when we share both the benefits and the burdens required in serving our nation." The program provides clinical evaluations and treatment to Veterans of all eras with invisible wounds such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury - two increasingly common and often debilitating wounds of the war on terror - as well as clinical and support services to their families. In addition to assembling care packages, our volunteers also participate in the event’s 9K/5K races. Included in that group of participants are employees who take part in our Warrior Integration Program.

We value our partnership with Home Base and the Red Sox Foundation, because many of our employees are veterans or have family members who have served or are currently serving. Throughout the year we work with the Red Sox Foundation to sponsor other events that support the military, like Military Appreciation Weekend and Trees for our Heroes, which together provide activities for more than 500 military families annually. The program leads regional and national efforts to help Post-9/11 service members, veterans from all branches of service including the National Guard and Reserve, and their families heal from the invisible wounds of war like traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. During the event we hosted a military appreciation area where participants and spectators made care packages for deployed soldiers serving overseas. Approximately 100 BAE Systems volunteers, including family and friends, helped to assemble more than 1,000 care packages. "The services at Home Base have helped thousands of Veterans and Veteran family members over the past eight years, and that assistance would not be possible without the generous support and energy of the runners who help raise funds," said Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner. Home Base is a philanthropic partnership between the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox and one of the nation's most renowned teaching hospitals.
